Kastubagram Rural Institute, an Autonomous women's college affiliated to Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, was established in 1963 by National Council for Rural Higher Education, Government of India, New Delhi in co-operation with Madhya Pradesh Government and Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust, established by Mahatma Gandhi in the memory of Kasturba Gandhi.
College provides the facility of unfurnished quarters in the campus to faculty and staff of the college.

There are three hostels for the students . There is provision of all basic amenities in the hostels.
College has the provision of various well established laboratories in Home Science, Science , Computer and various Elective Discipline Subjects.
Elective Discipline Courses (EDS) are being taught to students to give them knowledge about vocational courses which helps them to grow professionally in various fields. Courses like Handicraft, Food preservation,Physical education and Yoga, Journalism,Dairy Science, Applied Physics and Garment Technology are the EDS courses that students study of two years.
A well equip computer lab with 43 systems is available in the college . All the students in the college are given computer education to keep them abreast to latest education and trends in professional fields.
